We humans have long thought that we are thinking beings who sometimes feel, when it’s more likely the case that we are feeling beings who sometimes think (to paraphrase Antonio DaMasio and Jules Taylor Shore). I try to help my clients arrive at the realest and truest version of themselves through a focus on building a trusting relationship, and on the client’s inner experience; through this work coupled with building awareness of early attachment wounds and complex relational traumas – through making what is implicit, explicit – we find that we can heal these wounded parts of ourselves.

While in my graduate work I was originally trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Motivational Interviewing, and while I still employ these approaches, I have begun integrating more experiential therapies into my work. Currently, I use a blend of these experiential and relational therapies including elements of Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), of Coherence Therapy, and of Schema Therapy in my work with clients, as well as trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness cultivation, somatic or body-based modalities, and elements of depth psychologies. I see each person I work with as the primary expert in their experience, and through these methods see myself as a guide who can help clients arrive at what is true and real for them.
